UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE SECURING.
Before choosing a strap or fitting, look at the load as a complete system. Weight matters, but so do shape, surface, center of gravity and the way the cargo may shift during acceleration, braking and turns.
- Estimate the load weight and identify heavy or high-center-of-gravity items.
- Check for sharp edges, abrasive surfaces, heat, chemicals or moisture that may affect webbing or hardware.
- Confirm where the load can safely accept pressure without being crushed or damaged.
- Identify suitable anchor points on the vehicle, trailer or track system before routing the tie-down.
